Energy-Saving Bulbs - Be Very Careful ...

According to data from the web, so-called "Energy-Saving" bulbs, or low energy bulbs, if broken, can cause serious danger! If broken in a person'e presence, the person should leave the room for at least 15 minutes. The gas liberated from this item on breakage is mercury vapor, which is a very strong poison that should not be inhaled. Some Ministry in England warns NOT to clean up the debris with a vacuum cleaner, because it would spread the contamination to other rooms in the house when using the vacuum cleaner again. Don't forget the gas doesn't stay with physical dirt but can easily dissipate into the air. Rather, the broken glass and debris should be swept with a broom or brush, sealed and thrown right away from the house into a bin for hazardous materials. Mercury is dangerous, more poisonous than lead or arsenic!
